BASRA, Apr 8: The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced early Wednesday that it will suspend its military operations in Iraq and across the region for two weeks.
In a statement, the group said the pause aligns with the recently announced ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, which aims to de-escalate tensions after days of heightened conflict.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella organization of Iran-backed militias, has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks targeting U.S. bases and other facilities in Iraq since the outbreak of hostilities, saying the actions were carried out in solidarity with Tehran.
The temporary halt signals a potential cooling of hostilities, though it remains unclear whether the pause will lead to a longer-term reduction in attacks or a broader regional de-escalation.
