TEHRAN, Apr 8: Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Wednesday that a ceasefire and negotiations with the United States to end the conflict are “unreasonable,” accusing Washington of violating three of Tehran’s conditions for an agreement.
In a social media post, Ghalibaf cited continued Israeli strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon, an alleged drone incursion into Iranian airspace after the ceasefire took effect, and US statements rejecting any Iranian uranium enrichment as part of a final deal.
He said these actions undermine the framework for any potential agreement and reflect violations of what he described as Iran’s 10 conditions for ending hostilities.
His remarks come as the ceasefire appears increasingly fragile amid competing claims of victory and rising tensions between the parties.
The comments were also made shortly after the White House announced that US Vice President JD Vance will lead the US delegation to talks in Islamabad starting Saturday aimed at ending the conflict.
