UNITED NATIONS, Apr 5: Iran has accused US President Donald Trump of issuing threats that amount to an “intent to commit war crimes,” following his remarks warning Tehran over the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement posted on X, Iran’s mission to the United Nations said the threats to target civilian infrastructure constitute “a direct and public incitement to terrorise civilians” and represent clear evidence of intent to commit war crimes.
The comments came hours after Trump issued a strongly worded post warning that Iran would be “living in Hell” if tensions over the Strait of Hormuz escalated further.
The Iranian mission said the international community has legal obligations to prevent such acts, urging immediate action and warning that delay would have serious consequences. “They must act now. Tomorrow is too late,” the statement said.
The exchange marks a further escalation in rhetoric amid rising regional tensions involving key maritime routes and infrastructure security in the Gulf.
