Interior Ministry reaffirms commitment to safer roads and better traffic flow
Deputy Interior Minister chairs 26th Supreme Traffic Council meeting in Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: Deputy Minister of Interior, Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Wuhaib, chaired the 26th meeting of the Supreme Council for Traffic on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with the participation of council members and representatives from relevant authorities. Attendees included the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, the Director General of Kuwait Municipality, the Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector, the Director General of the General Traffic Department, the Director General of the General Department of Governorate Affairs, and the Director General of the Legal Affairs Department.

At the start of the meeting, Major General Al-Wuhaib welcomed attendees and conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Saud Al-Sabah. He emphasized the importance of continued joint work and coordination among relevant authorities to enhance traffic safety and improve Kuwait’s traffic system.

The council reviewed several agenda items, including the minutes of the 25th council meeting held on September 23, 2025, and the Cabinet decision to dissolve the Public Authority for Roads and  Transportation and transfer its responsibilities to the General Traffic Department.

A visual presentation by the Secretary of the Supreme Council for Traffic, Brigadier Khaled Abdullah Al-Adwani, was also presented, focusing on organizing public bus transport in Kuwait. The presentation included indicators and results of the recent amendments to the traffic law and their impact on reducing traffic violations, accidents, fatalities, and injuries, based on statistics from the General Traffic Department.

The meeting further addressed emerging issues and reviewed proposals aimed at improving the traffic system and achieving the highest standards of road safety.

In conclusion, Major General Al-Wuhaib reaffirmed the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to initiatives that improve traffic flow and stressed the importance of studying recommendations and proposals before submitting them to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior for approval and necessary action.
