Interior Ministry boosts efforts to improve traffic and public safety
The Interior Ministry is intensifying security efforts to implement the comprehensive traffic plan and enhance community security.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior is ramping up efforts, in coordination with various security sectors, to enforce a comprehensive traffic plan aimed at ensuring the safety and security of road users, Acting Interior Ministry Undersecretary Major General Ali Al-Adwani affirmed Tuesday.

The move reflects the ministry’s ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety and preserving Kuwait’s leadership in traffic and security management, the ministry said in an official statement.

Major General Al-Adwani made the remarks during the 25th meeting of the Supreme Traffic Council, held under his chairmanship. Also in attendance were Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ateeqi, and representatives from the Ministries of Education, Information, Public Works, as well as Kuwait Municipality and Kuwait University.

During the meeting, Major General Al-Adwani conveyed the greetings and appreciation of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, expressing his best wishes for the council’s success in fulfilling its duties and achieving its goals of enhancing Kuwait’s traffic system and safeguarding all road users.

The council discussed the Traffic Sector’s preparedness and field plans ahead of the 2025–2026 academic year. The strategies are aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow across major roads and thoroughfares, as well as facilitating access to schools, universities, colleges, and institutes for students and staff alike.

The meeting also reviewed recent traffic safety statistics, which showed positive indicators, including a noticeable decline in road accidents, increased seat belt usage, and a reduction in mobile phone use while driving. Additionally, the council noted a rise in enforcement actions against serious violations, reflecting the effectiveness of current traffic measures.
