KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between GCC countries in the fields of tourism innovation and digital transformation. He highlighted the need to leverage modern technologies to attract more visitors to the region.
Al-Mutairi made this statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday, following his reception of UAE Minister of Economy, Abdullah Al-Marri, who arrived in Kuwait to participate in the ninth meeting of the ministers responsible for tourism in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The Minister praised the UAE's "pioneering" efforts in advancing tourism, particularly through its innovative tourism, cultural tourism initiatives, and global event organization. He stressed that exchanging experiences and expertise among GCC countries would enhance their competitive position on the global tourism map.
Al-Mutairi also emphasized the significance of the meeting in promoting tourism integration among GCC nations. He noted that the meeting's agenda would cover crucial topics that would contribute to the growth and development of the tourism sector within the GCC, recognizing tourism as a key driver of sustainable economic growth.
The Minister expressed his hope that the meeting would lead to practical initiatives that would further support tourism development in the region.
