Indonesia stands with Kuwait, raps Iran attacks

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29: Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono affirmed his country’s solidarity with Kuwait on Tuesday regarding the Iranian attacks on vital civilian infrastructure, emphasizing that these attacks violate international law. In a press statement, Kuwait’s Embassy in Jakarta said that this came during a meeting between Minister Sugiono and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Indonesia Khaled Al-Yaseen, where they discussed regional developments in light of the ongoing Iranian attacks and violations targeting the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Kuwait and other countries in the region. They further discussed the resulting regional and international repercussions of the attacks while Sugiono stressed the importance of de-escalation and resolving disputes peacefully.

On the bilateral level, Sugiono highlighted the importance of the existing partnership between the two countries, based on mutual respect and shared values, and its role in strengthening efforts toward sustainable development, emphasizing the need to activate the bilateral agreements signed between them. For his part, Ambassador Al-Yaseen affirmed during the meeting Kuwait’s commitment to developing cooperation with Indonesia in various fields, noting the importance of enhancing political, economic, and cultural cooperation to achieve the common interests of the two friendly nations. The statement indicated that the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Kuwait and Indonesia, and reviewed the latest developments in the region and ways to continue coordination on issues of common interest.(KUNA)
