KUWAIT CITY, Nov 10: Ms. Paramita Tripathi, India’s newly appointed Ambassador to Kuwait, arrived today and formally assumed her responsibilities as India’s chief diplomatic representative in the country, marking a new phase in the longstanding and strategic partnership between India and Kuwait.
Ambassador Tripathi’s appointment comes at a pivotal time, following the Strategic Partnership framework established during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait in 2024. Her tenure is expected to strengthen government-to-government relations and promote initiatives across trade, energy, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
In addition to her diplomatic responsibilities, Ambassador Tripathi will actively engage with the Indian community in Kuwait. Her presence underscores India’s commitment to its overseas community and provides an opportunity to interact with community leaders, professionals, and families, reinforcing cultural and social ties.
A distinguished career diplomat with over two decades of service in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Ms. Tripathi joined the IFS in 2001 and has held several key positions in India and abroad. Before her posting in Kuwait, she served as Joint Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi. Her overseas assignments include significant roles in Singapore, Brussels, Tokyo, and other missions, reflecting her extensive experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.
Ms. Tripathi holds a Master’s degree in Geography from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Bengali, and has a working knowledge of French. She is married to Pradyumn, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).
Ambassador Tripathi is expected to play a pivotal role in expanding cooperation between India and Kuwait across multiple sectors, including trade, energy, defense, culture, and financial intelligence. She will also oversee the implementation and furtherance of several recently signed Memorandums of Understanding, reinforcing the shared commitment of both nations to deeper engagement and collaboration.
