India’s Amster Overseas CEO Arrested Over Job Fraud; Agency Has Branches in Oman, UAE, Bahrain

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Sept 25: Police have taken Parvathi Maya Shaji, chief executive officer of recruitment agency Amster Overseas, into custody in connection with alleged overseas employment fraud.

Maya was intercepted by police at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after arriving from abroad.

The detention followed complaints alleging that Maya defrauded job seekers by promising them overseas employment in Poland and Armenia. According to First Information Reports (FIRs), the agency allegedly collected approximately ₹10 lakh from victims.

Maya has been named as the primary accused in two separate cases registered at Palarivattom police station in Kochi. She faces charges in both cases.

Amster Overseas has its registered office in Kottayam and branches in Kochi, Kattappana, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Bengaluru.

The agency also operates international branch offices in Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Nepal.

Police are continuing their investigation into the allegations.
