KUWAIT CITY, Jun 12: An 11-day Indian Mango Festival concluded in Kuwait with a Mango Tasting Fiesta at The Avenues Mall, celebrating the rich diversity and premium quality of India's iconic "King of Fruits." Visitors sampled fresh mango slices, mango lassi, and a variety of mango-based delicacies, while participating restaurants also hosted a three-day "Mango Mania" featuring specially curated dishes showcasing the fruit's versatility. As the world's largest producer of mangoes, India is home to hundreds of varieties renowned for their distinctive flavour, aroma and nutritional value. The festival highlighted the growing agricultural and food trade partnership between India and Kuwait.
The Indian Ambassador HE Parmita Tripathi highlighted the fruit's cultural and economic significance.
Addressing visitors at the event, the ambassador welcomed Kuwaiti residents and members of the Indian community, describing Indian mangoes as the "king of fruits" and one of India's most prized seasonal exports.
She noted that India produces more than 500 varieties of mangoes across different states, with the world-renowned Alphonso mango among the most sought-after. Visitors at the festival were offered the opportunity to sample several popular varieties, including Alphonso, Dasheri, Banganapalli and Kesar.
The ambassador said Indian mangoes, like India's spices, jewellery and textiles, represent an important export product and play a significant role in strengthening trade ties between India and Kuwait.
She also noted that Indian mangoes have been arriving in Kuwait for more than a month and are highly popular among local consumers. Encouraging greater trade cooperation, she invited Kuwaiti importers interested in sourcing more Indian mangoes to connect with the Embassy of India, which can facilitate contacts with exporters across India.
The festival aimed to promote Indian agricultural products in Kuwait while allowing residents to experience the wide range of flavours and varieties that have made Indian mangoes famous around the world.
