Indian government cracks down on cyber fraud operations in Cambodia.

NEW DELHI, India, April 1: In a proactive move, the Indian government has undertaken efforts to rescue its citizens ensnared in deceptive employment schemes in Cambodia, where they were coerced into participating in cyber fraud activities.

According to a statement released by Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India's Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian embassy in Cambodia has collaborated with local authorities to rescue and repatriate approximately 250 Indian nationals, with 75 individuals rescued within the last three months alone.

Jaiswal's statement comes in response to Indian media reports highlighting the plight of over 5,000 Indians allegedly trapped in Cambodia, compelled to engage in cyber fraud schemes targeting individuals in India.

"We are also working closely with Cambodian authorities and relevant agencies in India to dismantle the networks behind these fraudulent operations," stated Jaiswal, indicating the Indian government's commitment to combatting such illicit activities.

Furthermore, Jaiswal emphasized that the Indian government, along with its embassy in Cambodia, has issued multiple advisories cautioning citizens about the prevalence of such scams and urging vigilance against falling victim to them.

The concerted efforts by the Indian government reflect its dedication to safeguarding its citizens abroad and cracking down on fraudulent activities that exploit vulnerable individuals for illicit gain.
