KUWAIT CITY, Jun 2: The Embassy of India is pleased to announce a three-day Yoga Festival in Kuwait on 19–21 June 2026 to commemorate the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 (IDY-2026). The flagship event of the three-day Yoga Festival will be held on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at Boulevard Cricket Stadium, Salmiya.
The IDY-2026 was launched in Kuwait on 29 May 2026 with a women-led wellness session at the lawns of the India House. Inaugurated by the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, HE Mrs Paramita Tripathi, and HE Sheikha Shaikha Al Sabah, a Padma Shri awardee, founder of Dar Atma, and President of the Kuwait Yoga Committee, the launch event was attended by members of the diplomatic community and friends from Kuwait.
To commemorate IDY-2026 in Kuwait, the Embassy of India is organising a wide range of activities aimed at promoting yoga and making it accessible to the broader community. Curtain-raiser events are being conducted with the aim to foster greater engagement and encourage inclusive participation across diverse sections of society, highlighting yoga’s universal relevance and holistic benefits.
Several curtain raiser events of IDY-2026 are being held across various locations in Kuwait. On 30 May, the Embassy in collaboration with Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK) and Kerala Ayurvedic Health Institute held a Yoga Workshop at the Embassy premises. A series of yoga sessions were held at Indian schools across Kuwait. Several other yoga activities will be organised by Indian community groups, yoga institutes, and Kuwaiti organisations in the coming days in the lead-up to the IDY-2026.
The International Day of Yoga traces its origin to a landmark proposal made by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his address to the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014. The initiative received unprecedented global support, with 177 countries co-sponsoring the resolution declaring 21 June, the
longest day in the Northern Hemisphere, as the International Day of Yoga, symbolising harmony between humanity and nature. Since its first observance in 2015, the International Day of Yoga has evolved into a global movement promoting the holistic benefits of yoga and its role in fostering a balanced, healthy, and sustainable lifestyle.
The theme for IDY-2026 is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” which highlights the important role of yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and emotional resilience throughout all stages of life. The theme draws attention to the growing need for healthy and active lifestyles in the face of ageing populations and evolving global health challenges. Yoga contributes to improved flexibility, balance, strength, and mindfulness, while
also helping reduce stress and enhance overall quality of life. The theme further reinforces yoga’s value as a holistic and accessible approach to preventive healthcare, encouraging individuals and communities to adopt healthier and more balanced ways of living.
As part of its sustained wellness outreach, the Embassy also conducts year-round yoga workshops every Friday and Saturday to encourage regular practice and promote healthy lifestyles within the community.
The Embassy invites all in Kuwait to actively participate in the forthcoming IDY 2026 activities and promote holistic health, well-being, and a balanced lifestyle through yoga.
Details regarding venue, timing, and registration will be announced shortly through the Embassy’s official communication channels and social media platforms. For further information, please visit the Embassy’s website: https://www.indembkwt.gov.in.
