KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: The Embassy of India in Kuwait celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on Saturday with patriotic fervor, bringing together members of the Indian community, distinguished guests and friends of India at the embassy premises.
The celebrations began with Ambassador of India to Kuwait Paramita Tripathi offering floral tributes at the Shilaphalakam, a commemorative memorial plaque dedicated to Indian freedom fighters, and the bust of Mahatma Gandhi.
The ceremony continued with the mass singing of India’s national song, Vande Mataram, commemorating its 150th anniversary. Ambassador Tripathi then hoisted the national flag, followed by the singing of the national anthem, Jana Gana Mana.
The Ambassador also read out the Address to the Nation delivered by the President of India on the eve of Independence Day. The address highlighted India’s achievements and aspirations, as well as its continued pursuit of inclusive development under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
In her remarks, Tripathi underscored the close and longstanding ties between India and Kuwait, describing them as being rooted in mutual respect, goodwill and strong people-to-people relations. She also praised the Indian community for its valuable contribution to Kuwait.
As part of global India@80 celebrations, the embassy participated in the ‘Surya Path Tiranga’ global relay, celebrating the Indian tricolour as a symbol of national pride, unity and shared identity. Attendees were also encouraged to take part in the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiatives, with special photo points arranged at the venue.
The embassy had organised several community initiatives ahead of Independence Day, including the ‘My India, My Story’ creative campaign, ‘India Through My Lens’ photography competition and ‘Paint Your Vision of Viksit Bharat 2047’ painting competition. Winners were felicitated by the Ambassador and presented with certificates, while selected entries were displayed at the embassy.
The Ambassador also felicitated winners of the Independence Day Special Bharat Ko Janiye (BKJ) Quiz.
The celebrations highlighted India’s cultural diversity and the shared national identity of the Indian community in Kuwait. The programme concluded with a cleanliness drive at the embassy premises under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative, reinforcing the importance of cleanliness, civic responsibility and collective action.
