Indian company ends uniform supply deal with Israeli police after Gaza Hospital bombing

INDIA, Oct 22, (Agencies): An Indian apparel manufacturer, Maryan Apparel Private Limited, which had been supplying uniforms to the Israeli police, has decided to stop accepting more orders from the force. This decision comes in response to Israel’s military actions in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of many civilians.

The company’s director, Thomas Olickal, cited the killing of innocent people as the reason for severing ties with the Israeli police. The company’s stance was made public after the bombing of Al-Ahli Al-Arabi Hospital in central Gaza, where hundreds of people, including women, children, and the elderly, lost their lives.

While Israel has denied responsibility for the bombing, it has faced international criticism for the incident. Maryan Apparel, based in the state of Kerala, specializes in manufacturing apparel for various purposes, including fire-retardant fabric for workers in petroleum refineries, medical scrubs, and security personnel uniforms.

The decision to stop accepting orders from the Israeli police, even though it supplied about 100,000 uniforms annually, reflects the company’s stance on the protection of innocent lives.
