ITALY, Oct 8, (Agencies): An Indian billionaire, Vikas Oberoi, is currently under investigation in Italy following a tragic incident during a supercar tour in Sardinia. The collision between his Lamborghini and a Ferrari resulted in the loss of two lives.

The incident occurred while Vikas Oberoi was behind the wheel, accompanied by his wife, Gayatri Joshi, a well-known model and actor. The collision took place on a Monday in southern Sardinia, as reported by an official from the carabinieri.

A video of the incident, captured from a car trailing behind, was later shared by local media. It depicted both the Lamborghini and the Ferrari as part of a larger convoy of supercars. Several of these vehicles had overtaken a van on the road ahead. However, when the Lamborghini attempted to change lanes, it collided with the approaching Ferrari.

Tragically, the collision caused the Ferrari to crash and catch fire, resulting in the fatalities of a Swiss couple in their 60s, according to media reports. Fortunately, the Indian couple, Vikas Oberoi and Gayatri Joshi, sustained non-serious injuries.

Vikas Oberoi has been identified as a suspect in the ongoing investigation into the potential double road homicide, as confirmed by the carabinieri official.

Vikas Oberoi is the founder of Oberoi Realty, a prominent developer known for constructing high-end suburban condominiums in Mumbai. According to Forbes’s real-time billionaires list, he holds a net worth of $3.7 billion.

Gayatri Joshi, on the other hand, is best recognized for her role in the 2004 Bollywood film “Swades,” where she portrayed the love interest of the megastar Shah Rukh Khan. The couple has been married since 2005 and has two children.
