KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: As part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling and safeguard public safety, the General Administration of Customs, acting under the direct guidance of His Excellency the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, has foiled two separate drug smuggling attempts at Kuwait International Airport.
Customs officers at Terminals 1 and 4 arrested two passengers during routine inspection and control procedures. In the first case, officers at Terminal 1 apprehended a female passenger arriving from the Republic of Benin. The Beninese national, who works as a domestic worker, was found in possession of approximately 1.074 kilograms of marijuana, along with small bags used for sorting and distribution and rolling papers. She had entered the country on a valid visa.
In a separate operation at Terminal 4, customs officers arrested a male passenger arriving from Delhi. The Indian national was found to be carrying approximately 226 grams of hashish.
The General Administration of Customs stated that all necessary legal measures were taken in both cases. Seizure reports were prepared, and the confiscated substances were referred to the General Directorate for Drug and Alcohol Control to complete the required procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening controls at all customs entry points and to decisively confronting any attempts to smuggle narcotics, in close coordination with the relevant security authorities, to protect national security and public safety.
