KUWAIT CITY, Nov 22: The General Administration of Customs has successfully prevented an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of prohibited chewing tobacco into the country through Kuwait International Airport – Terminal 4. The contraband arrived on a flight from India and was intercepted during routine baggage inspection procedures.

According to authorities, X-ray scanners detected an abnormal object concealed inside a large suitcase. Customs officers initiated further checks after the passenger retrieved his luggage from the conveyor belt. A meticulous manual search of the bag uncovered approximately 16 kilograms of tobacco, a product banned under Kuwait’s customs laws and regulations.

Officials immediately prepared a seizure report, and the illicit items were confiscated in accordance with established procedures. The case has been referred to the competent authorities for legal action against the passenger.

The General Administration of Customs reiterated its ongoing commitment to enforcing strict inspection measures on all incoming baggage and parcels across the country’s ports of entry, emphasising its role in safeguarding public safety and preventing the entry of prohibited substances.
