‘India supports Kuwait in current regional turmoil’

KUWAIT CITY, July 11: Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Paramita Tripathi said the visit of Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to Kuwait was an expression of India's solidarity with Kuwait in light of the current developments in the region. In a statement to reporters, Tripathi indicated that the minister conveyed a message to the Kuwaiti leaders, affirming the depth of bilateral relations and the readiness of New Delhi to fully support Kuwait during this period. She disclosed that during his meetings with Kuwaiti officials, the minister confirmed the readiness of India to cooperate with Kuwait in various priority areas, particularly those related to food security and addressing supply chain and logistical challenges.

She said India already provided specialized foam materials for extinguishing large fires as part of its efforts to support Kuwait. She revealed that more bilateral visits are expected in the coming period, during which agreements will be discussed and cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened, without giving details. She said Jaishankar had a series of high-level meetings with His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense. She added that discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional security developments, and the impact of regional conditions on regional and global security and stability. She confirmed that the Kuwaiti side warmly welcomed Jaishankar, reflecting the strength of the historical ties between the two countries.

At the meeting of Jaishankar with members of the Indian community in Kuwait, she explained that the purpose of the meeting is to listen to the community members and learn about their situation under the current circumstances. She indicated that the Indian Embassy maintains continuous contact with the Indian community, and that the ministry in New Delhi has been receiving daily reports on their situation. She added that the minister affirmed during the meeting that the safety and well-being of Indian citizens abroad is the top priority for the Indian government. She also stated that the minister confirmed that members of the community expressed their happiness over his visit and the opportunity to exchange views and learn about India’s efforts to serve them. She expressed hope for the continuation of mutual visits between the two countries, hinting that there are already mutual invitations in place and arrangements are underway for more official visits.
