COLOMBO, Mar 29: India has delivered 38,000 metric tonnes of petroleum products to Sri Lanka, including 20,000 MT of diesel and 18,000 MT of petrol, according to a statement from the Indian High Commission in Colombo.
The assistance comes as Sri Lanka faces fuel supply disruptions linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake discussed the situation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while thanking India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for continued support.
Earlier, Jaishankar also held a telephone conversation with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath on March 23, as both sides coordinated efforts to address the energy shortage.
