NEW DELHI, May 17: The Indian government announced today, Sunday, the extension of the complete closure for the fourth time for an additional period of two weeks, to reduce the spread of the Corona virus - Covid 19.

The Central Interior Ministry said in a statement that its decision to extend the full closure until May 31 is accompanied by the relaxation of some restrictions imposed, especially in governorates not severely affected by the virus.
The statement stressed that a number of services, including domestic and international air transportation, and metro services will remain suspended, along with the continued closure of schools, educational institutes, cinemas, restaurants and hotels.

The statement stressed that the restrictions imposed on religious and political meetings and festivals will continue and will be implemented strictly, as mosques, temples, public facilities and shopping malls remain closed.
The authorities announced the possibility of resuming interstate transport services based on an understanding between the state governments concerned.
The announcement of the extension of the closure amid rising number of deaths in the country due to the spread of Corona virus to reach 2872 and the number of injuries to 90927. (KUNA)
