India Orders Indian Citizens to Flee Iran as US Strikes Loom

Tehran, Feb 23: The Embassy of India in Iran has advised all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Iran to leave the country immediately amid threats of possible US strikes. The advisory, issued on 14 January 2026, applies to students, pilgrims, business travelers, and tourists, urging them to depart using any available means, including commercial flights.

Citizens have been asked to exercise caution, avoid protests or demonstrations, and stay in regular contact with the embassy while monitoring local media for updates. Travelers are also advised to keep passports and other identification documents readily accessible and to register with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.
