Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, HE. Paramita Tripathi

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31: India and Kuwait are exploring investment opportunities in infrastructure, logistics and food processing, with discussions between the two countries making good progress, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Paramita Tripathi said during the first press conference under the India–Kuwait Media Connect (IKMC) initiative.

Addressing members of the Kuwaiti media, Ambassador Tripathi said investment cooperation was an ongoing process, highlighting the growing interest on both sides following recent discussions, including a meeting with Kuwait's Minister of Finance Dr. Yaqoub Al-Sayed Yousef Al-Rifai and the India–Kuwait Joint Working Group on Investment Cooperation held in New Delhi earlier this month.

Describing her meeting with the Finance Minister as very productive, the Ambassador said discussions covered investment opportunities as well as the economic challenges facing countries amid the prevailing regional situation.

She noted that Kuwait's Finance Minister showed considerable interest in understanding how India was responding to global and regional challenges, with an extensive exchange of views taking place involving his team.

The Ambassador pointed out that investments were already taking place through both the private sector and Kuwait's sovereign wealth fund, expressing satisfaction with the progress achieved so far.

She identified India's infrastructure and logistics sectors as promising areas for investment, while noting particularly strong interest in food processing. Both sides are continuing to exchange information and explore opportunities across these sectors.

65 years of India-Kuwait diplomatic relations
On celebrations marking 65 years of diplomatic relations between India and Kuwait, Ambassador Tripathi said both countries were organising events under the anniversary banner.

She cited the recent tree-plantation initiative and said further programmes were planned for January and February 2027.

The Ambassador also revealed that the Embassy of Kuwait in New Delhi was planning a reception and textile exhibition in November, with Kuwait's Al Sadu House participating in the exhibition to showcase the country's traditional textile heritage.

Asked about the possibility of high-level visits to mark the anniversary, she clarified that no visits had been specifically scheduled under the 65-year celebrations, although discussions on exchanges of visits were ongoing.

She confirmed that an invitation for a visit had been accepted, but the date had yet to be finalised.

"Let us hope that visits can happen in the near future," she said.

India showcases economic, scientific and technological progress
In her opening remarks at the press conference, the Ambassador highlighted India's achievements during October across economic development, diplomacy, science and technology, space exploration and sports.

She said India's GDP grew by 7.8 percent in the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, while sustained export growth reflected the country's expanding global engagement and trade opportunities.

She also highlighted advances in quantum communication, indigenous artificial intelligence chip development, the Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme and next-generation launch vehicle technologies.

India's achievements at the Asian Games and Asian Para Games, along with the performance of young Indian participants at WorldSkills Shanghai, demonstrated the country's growing talent, innovation and capabilities, she said.

Major international events on India's calendar
The Ambassador outlined several upcoming international events in India that will offer opportunities for business, investment, technology and cultural exchange.
