India and Iran Leaders Discuss Regional Situation, Safety of Nationals

NEW DELHI, Mar 13: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation on Friday with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, discussing the current situation in the region.

During the call, President Pezeshkian briefed the Prime Minister on developments in Iran and shared his perspective on broader regional issues.

Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over the evolving security situation and emphasized India’s consistent stance that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He also highlighted India’s priorities regarding the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in the region, including in Iran, and stressed the importance of unhindered transit of energy and goods.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact to monitor developments.

Separately, India’s Foreign Minister held discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister @araghchi on Thursday night, addressing bilateral matters and BRICS-related issues.
