BERLIN, Feb 19: Salem Al-Ajmi, manager of Kuwait’s girls’ national figure skating team, praised skaters Lara Al-Barrak and Sama Jaragh for their strong performance at the Berlin International Figure Skating Championship. The tournament featured wide participation from more than 20 countries and was held under the direct supervision of the International Skating Union (ISU).
Speaking after the event, Al-Ajmi said both athletes delivered their best performances in their respective categories, in line with ISU regulations. He described the competition as a valuable experience that provided important international exposure and further developed their technical abilities.
He added that the Kuwait Winter Games Club, chaired by Fahid Al-Ajmi, is committed to ensuring Kuwaiti female skaters participate in major international events. This approach forms part of a long-term strategy to elevate their performance levels and prepare them for the 2029 Asian Winter Games, set to take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Al-Ajmi also commended the dedication shown by Al-Barrak and Jaragh throughout the championship, noting that their display reflects the steady progress of figure skating in Kuwait. He highlighted the key role played by Russian coach Yulia Martysheva and the administrative team in preparing the skaters to appear in such a competitive and commendable form.
