‘I’m a Cop’: Impostor Tricks Expat and Flees With KD 390 in Safat Al-Ghanim

KUWAIT CITY, June 20: A man posing as a cop allegedly tricked an expatriate into handing over access to his wallet before fleeing with KD 390 in a brazen daytime theft in Safat Al-Ghanam.

According to a complaint filed at Al-Dhaher Police Station, the victim was approached around midday by an unidentified man driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle. The suspect allegedly introduced himself as a detective and demanded to check the victim’s identification and legal status.

Believing the claim, the victim cooperated and pulled out his wallet, which contained KD 390. At that moment, the suspect allegedly instructed him to step away briefly, claiming he needed to verify his details.

Within seconds, the man returned to his vehicle and sped away, disappearing before the victim could stop him.

The victim told police he had never met the suspect before and was unable to provide the vehicle’s license plate number. He could only provide a general description of the alleged offender.

Police registered a case and referred it to the relevant authorities, who are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the area and collecting evidence in an effort to identify and arrest the suspect.

Authorities are continuing investigations to track down the individual and bring him before the appropriate legal authorities.
