KUWAIT CITY, March 10: Inspection teams from the Department of Charitable Societies and Donor Foundations at the Ministry of Social Affairs has referred 16 violations to the Public Prosecution and General Department of Investigations. According to informed sources from the Ministry of Social Affairs, four of these violations were referred to the General Department of Investigations, as they were related to making street appeals to collect donations or assistance, and over 12 individuals and entities who posted advertisements on social media to collect donations without obtaining the necessary licenses from the Public Prosecution.
Approximately 210 kiosks were removed in all governorates. These kiosks had been set up near mosques and in certain areas. Also, more than 20 restaurants and companies that advertised provision of meals, and called for donations in various ways were referred to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for further action. Some violations were recorded against charity associations for failing to include their license numbers while collecting donations. Appropriate measures were taken in this regard. Regarding the campaign for debtors, the sources confirmed that it will start in the middle of this month, adding that the ministry has instructed charity societies to promote the campaign. They said the funds collected by these societies throughout the month will be directed towards the campaign, which will be specifically for citizens
