KUWAIT CITY, Apr 30: In a dramatic late-night crackdown, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior uncovered an illegal “ghost kitchen” running out of a residential property, exposing a covert food operation that had been quietly serving customers through social media.
The raid, led by the Criminal Security Sector’s Financial Crimes Department, revealed a fully functioning central kitchen operating without any license or regulatory oversight. Authorities said the operation was openly advertising meals online while completely bypassing Kuwait Municipality laws and the supervision of the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition.
Investigators, acting on intelligence, confirmed the house had been converted into an unauthorized food hub, raising serious concerns over hygiene and public safety. When officials stormed the location, they discovered multiple violations, including workers without mandatory health certificates, poor sanitation standards, and a complete lack of licensing for food preparation.
Seven workers were detained at the scene as officials shut down the operation and seized equipment. The suspects, along with the evidence, have been referred to the Public Prosecution as legal proceedings begin.
The Ministry of Interior issued a stern warning, stressing that authorities are intensifying inspections across the country. Officials vowed zero tolerance for violators, declaring that anyone endangering public health or defying the law will face firm and immediate action.
