KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: As part of ongoing security efforts to safeguard public safety and maintain social security, His Excellency Sheikh Fahd Youssef Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, oversaw a major security operation targeting the illegal storage and trade of fireworks conducted without the required licenses.

The operation followed intensive investigations, surveillance, and field monitoring carried out by the relevant security authorities. These efforts led to the identification of several locations being used to store large quantities of fireworks in unsafe and unlawful conditions, posing a serious threat to lives and property. Security teams moved swiftly to secure the sites and seize the prohibited materials.

The crackdown resulted in the arrest of a number of individuals involved in illegal activities, as well as the seizure and impounding of three vehicles used for the transportation and storage of fireworks. All confiscated quantities were secured, and the necessary legal measures were taken against those involved in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Authorities also identified three suspects who fled the country before their arrest. One of the fugitives is a public employee working at the Customs Department, who is alleged to have been involved in the smuggling, importation, and storage of the fireworks. Legal procedures are currently underway to pursue and apprehend the fugitives through official channels.
