Illegal activities in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh forced MoI to ‘raze’ buildings

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: Under the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, a joint field campaign was launched on Monday morning in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, resulting in the demolition of the first dilapidated building that violated safety and security regulations, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The campaign included participation of the Criminal Security Affairs Sector, the Security Directorates Affairs Sector, Kuwait Municipality, the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF), the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and the Emergency Medical Services Department.

The site was secured, utilities were disconnected, and demolition work was carried out in a manner that ensured the safety of residents and workers.

The campaign followed the detection by the Criminal Security Affairs Sector, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigation’s Farwaniya Investigation Department, of several unlicensed activities, including restaurants and clinics operating within dilapidated buildings, as well as sites used as liquor factories and residences for immoral activities, which provided shelter for outlaws. In an official statement, the Ministry of Interior affirmed that the remaining violating buildings will be removed in the coming days.

It explained that, following a technical inspection carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works, it was determined that the demolished property posed a direct threat to lives and property. Legal and technical procedures are being finalized for other non-compliant properties in preparation for their demolition. The ministry affirmed its ongoing joint field operations with relevant authorities to address non-compliant properties and sites that endanger lives and property, and to take legal action against those occupying them.

Meanwhile, Chief of the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF) Major General Talal Mohammed Al-Roumi conducted a field inspection on Monday morning of the fire stations assigned to the demolition sites in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. According to a statement issued by KFF, the tour included reviewing the progress of field operations and ensuring the readiness of participating teams and equipment to guarantee the safe and effective execution of demolition operations while protecting residents and property. During the tour, Major General Al-Roumi affirmed the importance of ongoing coordination between KFF, Kuwait Municipality, and other relevant authorities to ensure the work is completed according to the highest public safety standards and to facilitate field procedures in the targeted areas.
