IDAK-KDD hold soccer, handball championship

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: Football and Handball tournament for the IDAK– KDD Sports Champioship 2021, were conducted in the picturesque roof top stadium of the American International School, Maidan Hawally on last Friday evening. Soccer In the IDAK-KDD men’s Football Championship 2021Southern Spartans captained by Dr. Bobby Joseph defeated Northern Ninjas led by Dr. Joju V. George. Southerrn Spartans leaped ahead by a solitary goal scored by Dr Asheel Mohammed in the first half. Although Northern Ninjas fought back valiantly, they could not equalize. But Southern Spartans increased their lead to 2-0 at full time.

Dr Bobby Joseph who saved two penalty kicks was adjudged as the best player of the IDAK-KDD Football tournament. Dr Roy Francis IDAK Past President gave the runners-up trophy for IDAKKDD Football Championship 2021 to the Northern Ninjas and Dr Shaheer Malik IDAK Immediate Past President gave the Winners Trophy to the Southern Spartans. Best player Trophy was given to Dr. Bobby Joseph by IDAK President Dr.Rajesh Alexander.

Handball
In the IDAK- KDD Women’s Handball Championship 2021 Northern Ninjas captained by Dr Anjana beat the Southern Spartans led by Dr Devi Priya. The first half of the match was totally dominated by the Northern Ninjas. They led 5-0 at half time with the goals scored by Dr Anjana (1), Dr Parvathy (2) and Dr Bankima (2). But the second half was evenly fought. Northern Ninjas increased the lead by two more goals through Dr Bankima and Dr Parvathy. But the Southern Spartans fought back through goals scored by Dr Devi Priya (1), Dr Jane (2) and Dr Prashanthy (1). But Northern Ninjas led by Dr Bankima sealed the match by scoring 3 goals consecutively.

Final score Northern Ninjas 10 Southern Spartans 4 (10-4). Dr Bankima Malhotra who scored 6 goals was adjudged as the best player of the IDAK –KDD Handball championship 2021. Dr Thomas Thomas IDAK presidentelect gave the runners up trophy for IDAK-KDD Handball Championship 2021 to the Southern Spartans and Dr Asheel Mohammed gave the winners trophy to the Northern Ninjas. Best player trophy was given to Dr Bankima Malhotra by IDAK Secretary Dr Jacob Lonappan. IDAK members and families came in good numbers and cheered their respective teams. Dr Kannam Shyam was the match referee for both the Football and Handball events. The Sporting event was well organized, meticulously planned and flawlessly executed by the IDAK Sports Committee headed by Dr Ashwin Sudhesh, under the guidance of Dr Rahul Puthalath and IDAK Executive Council. KDD was the exclusive title sponsor of the event. Event Management Committee led by Dr Vinod Varghese Sam provided all the help needed for the smooth conduct of the events.
