ABU DHAABI, Feb 21: The IBAK (Indian Badminton Association-Kuwait) team from Kuwait delivered an extraordinary performance at the prestigious Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026, securing multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals across various categories and creating a historic milestone for the organization.
The Open Masters Games is recognized as a premier international multi-sport event that brings together seasoned and veteran athletes from various countries to compete in a professionally organized, highly competitive environment. The week-long tournament promotes lifelong fitness, healthy competition, and international camaraderie among masters-level athletes.
The IBAK delegation travelled from Kuwait to Abu Dhabi to participate in the week-long tournament, competing against talented athletes from various regions. Throughout the event, the team demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Manimara Chozhan, IBAK players achieved remarkable success across several events. Mani not only served as team leader but also inspired the delegation through his personal performance and dedication to excellence. Known for his commitment to promoting sports within the community, he has been instrumental in encouraging senior athletes to remain active and competitive at international levels.
Dr. Manimara Chozhan led from the front with outstanding personal achievements:
• Gold Medal in 55+ Singles
• Bronze Medal in 40+ Mixed Doubles alongside Ms. Ainur Duma
The team’s impressive medal tally includes:
•Mr. Mohan Menon – Gold in 70+ Men’s Doubles, bronze in 70+ singles
•Mr. HishamEzzi –Silver in 40+ Men’s Singles and Silver in 40+ Mixed Doubles alongside Ms. Fazeela
•Mr. Prathap – Gold in 45+ Men’s Singles, Bronze in 45+ Men’s Doubles
•Ms. AinurDuma Jubail– Gold in 40+ Women’s Doubles, Bronze in 40+ Mixed Doubles
•Ms. MaricelLovitos– Gold in 40+ Women’s Doubles
• Ms. Fazeela – Silver in 40+ Mixed doubles, 2 Silver Medals in Chess 9 Rapid & Blitz, Gold in 1500 mtrs Race for women
In addition to their individual successes, the IBAK SMASHERSTEAM also proudly participated in the Volleyball Tournament and won the Gold Medal, further showcasing their versatility, teamwork, and competitive spirit.
