IBAK organises 6th ‘Summer Smash’ Badminton Tournament 2017

The Indian Badminton Association of Kuwait (IBAK) organized the sixth ‘Summer Smash Badminton Tournament 2017’ was organized recently in the midst of the summer heat as the competitors battled for glory.

The tournament was categorized in four groups. Taking part in the tournament were players from all over Kuwait who made it to the venue braving the weather to take home the coveted trophies in their respective disciplines.

In Men’s Doubles Professional category, Bader Kalliparambil and Yashin Bose beat Dr Manimara Chozhan and Ilayaraja12-21 21-17 21-10 in a 49-minute tussle.

In the beginning of semifinal they really struggled with Bibin Mathew and Jerosh Koshy but later on it was a tranquil win by 22-20, 8-21, 21-11.

Erwin and Mohammed sealed victory in Mens Doubles Advanced with a 21-18, 21-16 win over Subin Joy and Subin Varghese.

In semifinals, they beat Anto Santiko and Mohammad Elkhayath in a memorable match 19-21, 21-11, 21-13.

While Anand Shashidharan and Vyshak Joshy took the Open Intermediate Doubles title beating Ramdinesh and Shjil Surendran 20-22, 21-9, 21-1.

They won the right to play in the finals by easily beating Mathew Jose and Rahul Chandran 21-14, 21-15.

The Beginner’s Category witnessed the young blood of IBAK fighting for the title; Dhruva and Varun outlasted Allen Aneesh and Niyati Pradeep 21-15, 21-14.  In semifinal, they overcame Aidan Aneesh and Ajay Abhilash 21-13, 21-16.
