IBAK conducts coaching module 11 – 600 trainees take basic skills of badminton

KUWAIT CITY, June 5: As a part of promoting the game of badminton and passing the game on to the youngsters, to learn professionally, Indian Badminton Association (IBAK) has conducted their 11th coaching module started from 19th March to 19th May for a period of 2 months. It’s a matter of pride to note that IBAK has previously conducted 10 coaching modules and more than 600 trainees have taken to the basic skills of badminton. The coaching module mainly included children between the age of 8 to 18 years and few enthusiastic elderly learners. The module 11 included more than 90 kids and they were trained by Diwakar Chandramouli, a professional coach certified by Sports Authority of India (SAI).

As a part of assessment, tournament was conducted at the end of the coaching camp during 19th and 20th May, ’16 comprising of 81 matches and results are as follows. (Names are listed as winner, runner-up, and semifinalist)

Flight 1 (Men’s) – Sarvesh Raj Kumar ( winner ), Ashutosh Kulkarni (Runner-Up), Adhnan Jeff (SF) and Dhruva Bhardwaj (SF).

Flight 2 (Men’s) – Jayanth Shah ( winner ), Ashwin Jayashankar (Runner-Up), Joshua Oommen (SF) and Arun (SF).

Mixed Beginners – Addison Sumesh ( Winner ), Sanjay Karthick ( Runner-Up), Vyom Mehta (SF) and Mohammed Fadi (SF).

Flight 1 (Ladies) –Valli Gangadharan (Winner), Nivedita (Runner-Up), Namita Sara Biju (SF), Vnp Srisha (SF).

Flight 2 (Ladies) –Yashi Arora ( Winner ), Tehzeeb Ashir (Runner-Up), Shanmukha Priya (SF) and Aliza Arif Akhtar (SF).

As a token of appreciation, contribution towards IBAK activities for the last 3 years in leading role, Sreekumar Gopinathan who will be leaving Kuwait to start his badminton academy in Kerala, was felicitated by present General Secretary Chandrahas, on behalf of the IBAK family.

It is worth to mention the announcement made my IBAK chairman that young IBAK squad comprising 22 kids aged 8 to 19 years will be taking part in the upcoming GCC Junior tournament to be held in Bahrain during 2nd to 4th June, 2016.

IBAK coaching team consists of Dr Manimara Chozhan, Sreekumar G, Mohammed Sirajudeen, Shyam Sadwani, Ramesh Chandra, Yashin Bose, Ajay Kumar, Prasad, and Sreenivas Sreedhara.
