How a Social Media Report Led to the Arrest of a Fraud Suspect in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: Kuwait’s Criminal Security authorities have arrested a woman accused of fraud after she allegedly obtained services without making payment, following an investigation launched after the case surfaced on social media.

The Ministry of Interior said the arrest was carried out by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, through its Cybercrime Department, as part of ongoing efforts to combat fraud and deception crimes. The case came to light after reports circulated online alleging that an individual had been defrauded.

Security teams immediately launched search and investigation procedures, which revealed that the suspect had requested printing services from a company but failed to pay the agreed amount after the work was completed.

Following intensive tracking, the accused was identified and located. During questioning, she was confronted with the evidence and admitted to committing the act, acknowledging that she had received the services without settling the payment.

The woman has since been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal action in accordance with the law.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that security agencies will continue to pursue individuals involved in fraud and deception, stressing that protecting the rights of citizens and residents remains a top priority. The ministry added that the law will be applied firmly and fairly to all, without exception, to safeguard public trust and maintain social security.
