KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8 : Kuwait’s Court of Appeal has sentenced a Saudi woman to 10 years in prison over the death of her domestic worker in the Sabah Al-Nasser area.
According to the case details, the woman was accused of assaulting the domestic worker with a stick and pouring a corrosive chemical substance, identified as chlorine, onto her body.
The victim was allegedly left for three days without receiving medical assistance, in circumstances that prosecutors said were intended to result in her death.
However, the Court of Appeal changed the legal classification of the case from premeditated murder with prior planning and ambush to assault resulting in death.
The court consequently overturned the earlier 15-year prison sentence and replaced it with a 10-year jail term.
The ruling relates to the death of the domestic worker following the alleged assault and the failure to provide her with medical care.
