KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: Kuwait will experience hot daytime temperatures and warm to hot nights over the weekend, the country’s meteorological department said Wednesday, as an extension of the Indian monsoon low brings a hot and humid air mass to the region.
Dharar Al-Ali, director of the meteorological department, told KUNA that northwesterly to variable winds, light to moderate in speed, will prevail across the country.
On Thursday, coastal areas will see hot and humid conditions, with winds ranging between 8 and 30 kilometers per hour. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. The sea will be light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 4 feet.
Overnight Thursday, temperatures will drop slightly to 28 to 30 degrees Celsius, with hot and humid conditions continuing in coastal regions. Variable northwesterly winds will maintain light to moderate speeds, and sea conditions will remain light to moderate with waves of 1 to 4 feet.
Friday will see hot and relatively humid weather in coastal areas, with winds between 8 and 28 kilometers per hour. Maximum temperatures are forecast at 44 to 46 degrees Celsius, while the sea will remain light to moderate with waves ranging from 1 to 3 feet. Nighttime temperatures will range between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius, accompanied by light to moderate variable northwesterly winds and similar sea conditions.
Saturday is expected to be very hot, with northwesterly to variable winds at 8 to 28 kilometers per hour and maximum temperatures reaching 45 to 47 degrees Celsius. The sea will remain light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 3 feet. Saturday night will see temperatures ranging from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius, with northwesterly winds of light to moderate intensity and sea waves of 1 to 4 feet.
Al-Ali emphasized that the ongoing Indian monsoon depression, combined with the hot and humid air mass, will dominate Kuwait’s weather over the coming days.
