KUWAIT CITY, Jul 17: Al-Najat Charitable Society announced on Wednesday that the "Abshero Bil Khair" project, which assists needy families with rent payments within Kuwait, has benefitted a total of 22,000 individuals from 33 different nationalities since its launch in 2017.
Mohammad Al-Khalidi, Director of the Aid Department at the society, informed Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that beneficiaries of the project include Kuwaitis, undocumented residents, and various other nationalities, amounting to a total expenditure of KD 6 million (approximately USD 19.6 million). Al-Khalidi emphasized that priority for project benefits is given to the most vulnerable groups, including widows, orphans, low-income families, patients, divorcees, displaced women, and others in need. The project has supported a total of 3,717 families.
He explained that assistance is facilitated through a dedicated team managing the "Abshero Bil Khair" project, which processes requests via a dedicated hotline. Requests are reviewed, necessary documentation is completed to verify the family's need, and the application is then submitted for final approval.
He underscored the society’s commitment to directly paying rent to landlords via checks issued in their names, with receipts meticulously archived to ensure privacy for beneficiary families.
He highlighted that the "Abshero Bil Khair" project has become a hallmark of humanitarian effort within Kuwaiti society, recognized for its significant role in addressing humanitarian, social, and security challenges. He expressed gratitude to donors supporting the project and acknowledged the Ministry of Social Affairs for their support in organizing charitable initiatives.
