Holy month of Ramadan begins on 13th April

KUWAIT CITY, Apr 12: Tuesday the 13th of April will mark the first day of the holy Islamic month of Ramadan, Kuwait’s moon-sighting committee announced on Monday. After having met earlier, the committee revealed that the crescent moon was in clear sight, marking the eve of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic Hijri calendar preceded by Shaban of the year 1442, its head and Supreme Judicial Council Chairman, Justice Ahmed Al-Ajeel said.

On the occasion, the committee congratulated Their Highnesses the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Kuwait’s nationals and expatriates as well as Arab and Muslim nations.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar also confirmed that Tuesday will be the first day of the month of Ramadan.

Oman News Agency announced that the sighting of the crescent has not been confirmed and Wednesday 14th April is the first day of Ramadan.
