Hoax bomb threat causes flight emergency landing in India

NEW DELHI, Dec 3, (Xinhua): An IndiGo flight travelling from Kuwait to Hyderabad, India on Tuesday made an emergency landing at the airport in Mumbai, india's financial capital, after authorities received a bomb threat, which turned out to be a hoax, officials said.

The flight was diverted midair after an email warning of a "human bomb" on board was received by officials. Upon landing at Mumbai, the flight was immediately taken to an isolation bay at the airport. However, the scare turned out to be a hoax as nothing suspicious was found inside.

Official data showed that from Jan. 1, 2024, to Nov. 14, 2024, the number of hoax bomb threat calls received by airlines and airports in the country reached 999. In June last year, India's civil aviation security body proposed a five-year flying ban on those who issue such threats.
