Historic Oath: Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Mishal to swear in on Wednesday

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: The National Assembly will hold a special session at 10:00 am on Wednesday for HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to take the constitutional oath.

Article 60 of the Constitution stipulates: “At a special session of the National Assembly and before taking over his functions the Amir shall take the following Oath:
‘I swear by God Almighty to respect the Constitution and the Laws of the State, to defend the people’s liberties, their interests and their property, and to safeguard the Nation’s independence and the safety of its territories.’

HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah is the 17th ruler of Kuwait as per the Constitution and the Emirates Legacy Law. The Council of Ministers declared him the Amir of Kuwait on Saturday in accordance with the Emirates Legacy Law.

HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal has a fruitful career that started almost 60 years ago, during which he has proven his capability to lead the State of Kuwait. Throughout the three-year reign of HH the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal had always been the latter’s best supporter, the most honest consultant and partner in the remarkable achievements over the past three years.

Meanwhile, MPs Abdulkareem Al-Kandari, Muhannad Al-Sayer, Abdulaziz Al-Saqaabi and Abdullah Al-Mudhaf expressed condolences on the passing of HH the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf at the condolences ceremony held in Bayan Palace.
