KUWAIT CITY, May 11: The Kuwait Winter Games Club organized its first national ice hockey (3x3) championship, featuring competitions across three categories: men, women, and juniors, with a strong technical level on display.
The tournament, held at the club’s ice rink, saw Ice Stars win the men’s title, Wild Cats claim the women’s crown, and Ice Miva take the juniors’ championship.
Club Chairman Fahad Al-Ajmi said the event coincided with the resumption of local sports activity, which had been suspended on February 28 due to exceptional circumstances in the country and region before resuming on May 6. He noted that the goal was to help players regain competitive rhythm and improve their technical standards.
Al-Ajmi praised the performance of all participants, particularly the junior players, describing them as “the product of the club’s academy.”
He added that the national ice hockey league for men will resume in the coming period, while all five club teams have returned to training in preparation for upcoming competitions.
He also highlighted that the return of competitive action will positively impact Kuwait’s national team preparations for the fourth international ice hockey tournament of the Islamic Countries Forum, scheduled to be held in Kazan, Russia, next June.
