KUWAIT CITY, Jun 24: A technical malfunction at a main power substation in Jahra caused electricity outages in parts of the area on Wednesday, as soaring temperatures and increased demand placed additional pressure on Kuwait's power network.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said the Jahra (P) main substation went out of service after experiencing a technical fault linked to high temperatures and heavy electrical loads.

The ministry said the outage affected a limited section of the Jahra area and emphasized that emergency response teams were immediately deployed to address the problem.

Technical crews were dispatched to the site and began repair operations as soon as the fault was detected, the ministry said in a statement.

Authorities added that specialized teams are working to restore electricity and normal service as quickly as possible while implementing necessary measures to maintain the stability and reliability of the national power grid.

The ministry did not specify the number of customers affected or provide an estimated timeline for the full restoration of power.

Kuwait's electricity network has been facing increased pressure in recent weeks as summer temperatures continue to rise, driving higher consumption levels, particularly from air-conditioning systems.
