KUWAIT CITY, Feb 25: Following the directives of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Amiri Decree No. (21) of 2026, authorities have pardoned 539 people. Some walked free right away; others had their sentences cut short. The idea is simple—give people another shot at life and help them get back into society.
The Special Security Affairs and Correctional Institutions Sector took charge, handling all the legal and administrative steps with other government bodies. They made sure eligible inmates got out quickly and that sentence reductions took effect without delay. It’s a real show of how efficiently the government can act when it matters.
Officials pointed out that this whole effort came together thanks to strong cooperation between everyone involved. The goal? It’s not just about letting people go. It’s about giving them—and their families—a chance to start over, stick to the law, and build something better for themselves and the community.
