‘Height of model houses stays same in Kuwait’

Minister rejects 15 metres rumors

KUWAIT CITY, April 29: The Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan sent an explanatory letter yesterday to the Chairman of the Municipal Council Abdullah Al-Mahri, confirming that the current private and model housing listing will take effect without any change, and that the situation will continue as it is without prejudice to the interests of citizens or discrimination between them. She emphasized that the height of the private and model housing buildings remains as is currently, which is 18 meters, including the height of the staircase. The minister denied what is being circulated on social media sites about reducing the height of the building in private and model housing areas to 15 meters. Meanwhile, six candidates submitted their nomination papers yesterday to the General Elections Administration to register their names in the Municipal Council’s by-elections for the sixth (Khaitan) and ninth (Ahmadi) constituencies, which are scheduled to be held on May 18. These candidates are – Atallah Saleh Al-Sawagh, Hussein Al-Hamdan, Jawad Qambar, Fahad Nasser Al-Ajmi, Abdulaziz Hajiya and Mubarak Al-Hajri. The total number of candidates has now reached 16.
