KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi has launched the digital radiology licensing service at the Radiation Protection Department in the Public Health Sector in the Health Ministry. This service allows healthcare practitioners to submit applications for issuing and renewing personal radiology licenses electronically, eliminating the need for in-person visits.

This speeds up processing, improves service quality, and enhances user experience in line with the digital transformation strategy of the ministry. Al-Awadhi launched the service when he visited the Radiation Protection Department’s main building recently to review workflow as the department started receiving visitors in recent weeks. Undersecretary of the ministry Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Al-Mundhir Al-Hasawi, and Director of the Farwaniya Health District Dr. Mohammad Al-Rashidi accompanied the minister during the visit.

The minister was also briefed on the commencement of the first phase of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s ‘Regulatory Authority Information System+’ (RAIS+) program. This integrated system improves oversight and regulation capabilities for radiation sources and ensures compliance with radiation safety requirements through more efficient data management and intelligent monitoring in accordance with international standards. This will positively impact the protection of workers, the public, and the environment.

In a press statement, Dr. Nasser Al-Juwaisseri, Director of the Radiation Protection Department, affirmed that the department is striving to automate its services and expand the digital transformation in all of its operations, as per the digital governance strategy of the ministry. He disclosed that the next phase will include completing the remaining stages of the RAIS+ program, guaranteeing staff readiness, and developing electronic services to ensure efficient performance and the sustainability of the highest radiation safety standards in the country.
