Passengers test positive despite all-clear PCR

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: The entities operating at Kuwait International Airport will soon submit to the Council of Ministers a recommendation to add another condition for arriving passengers; such that these passengers will not be allowed to enter the country unless their health data are available on MUNA program, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source. According to the source, MUNA is an electronic system linking external laboratories accredited by the Ministry of Health; through which it is possible to obtain the health information of the traveler and for the traveler to know where to undergo PCR examination before entering the country.

The source explained MUNA is the first line of defense as it is linked to a wide network of accredited laboratories, which guarantees the reliability of PCR examination certificates. Through the program, the country’s health authorities will verify all the details of the PCR examination before a passenger’s arrival to Kuwait and know the history of the laboratory in which the examination was carried out, the source added.

On the rationale behind this new condition, the source disclosed that coronavirus cases among arriving passengers have been discovered through compulsory examination upon arrival at the airport even if they presented PCR certificates showing they are free from the virus.

Mechanisms
The Ministry of Health is studying a number of proposals to develop its work procedures and unify mechanisms for the next stage; such as merging sectors and departments in order to prevent violations, and addressing the comments and recommendations of supervisory authorities, most notably the Civil Service Commission (CSC), reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources from the health sector.

Sources revealed the ministry is looking into a proposal to merge all sectors concerned with media with the aim of unifying the media system, as well as the establishment of a health media and awareness department in charge of a number of sectors. Sources explained this move aims to organize work procedures in the ministry; including the idea of merging the Media Office, Media Center, Health Promotion Department and Media Department in the Public Relations Sector under one department called Health Media and Awareness.
