TEHRAN, Jul 5: A hardline Iranian media figure has accused President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf of playing a role in a chain of events that allegedly led to the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In a post on X, Amir Hossein Jafari outlined what he described as a four-point sequence of events, claiming that the two senior officials' "economic surgery" policies triggered a crisis in January that later escalated into war and ultimately resulted in Khamenei's death.
Jafari further alleged that Pezeshkian and Ghalibaf later held talks with what he referred to as "the killer" before attending Khamenei's funeral, where they publicly mourned the late leader.
The remarks reflect growing tensions and political infighting among hardline factions following Khamenei's death. However, Jafari did not provide evidence to support his allegations, and neither Pezeshkian nor Ghalibaf has publicly responded to the claims.
