PARIS, June 21: Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy ended the 2025-26 squash season on a high note, capturing the PSA World Tour Finals title for the second time in her career after defeating Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in the final in Paris.
The world No. 1 overcame a spirited challenge to secure an 11-6, 10-11, 11-8, 11-8 victory, reinforcing her status as the sport’s leading player and finishing the season atop the world rankings.
El Hammamy had already guaranteed the year-end No. 1 spot following the semifinal exit of fellow Egyptian Amina Orfi, who is ranked second in the world.
Reflecting on her triumph, El Hammamy said: “When I won my first Tour Finals title in 2020, I was the underdog. This time, I came in as the world No. 1 and had the pressure of defending that position, which makes this achievement even more special.”
She added that she plans to take a short break from squash before turning her attention to preparations for the upcoming season.
In the men’s competition, Peru’s Diego Elias claimed the Tour Finals crown for the first time in his career. Elias rallied from a game down to defeat New Zealand’s Paul Coll 7-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-9 in the championship match.
