Hamas Urges Iran Not to Target Neighboring Countries

GAZA, Mar 14: The Palestinian militant group Hamas on Saturday urged Iran to avoid targeting neighboring countries amid rising regional tensions, while reaffirming Tehran’s right to respond to attacks from Israel and the United States.

In a statement, Hamas said it supports Iran’s right to defend itself against what it described as aggression, responded is carried out in accordance with international norms and laws.

“While affirming the right of the Islamic Republic of Iran to respond to this aggression by all available means in accordance with international norms and laws, the movement calls on the brothers in Iran to avoid targeting neighboring countries,” the group said.

The statement comes amid escalating tensions in the region following recent military exchanges involving Iran, Israel and the United States. Hamas’ remarks highlight concerns about the potential for a wider regional conflict if neighboring states become directly involved.
