Half of Kuwaitis working in govt pretend to be sick

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: About half of Kuwaitis working in government sector pretend to suffer from illnesses and visit the Medical Council annually to seek medical retirement privileges or reduced working period of three hours, reports Arab Times daily.

The daily quoting a source said roughly 250,000 Kuwaiti male and female personnel visit the medical council annually to seek approval of specialized committees for medical retirement privileges or reduced working hours under the pretext of suffering from false ailments that require plastic surgery in the nose, eye and lips. He indicated the committees are forced to reject approximately three quarters of applicants.
